Take action
Whether you’re an ALS patient taking the Advisor survey, a researcher using GeoALS data, or someone who wants to volunteer or donate, there are many ways to jump right in and help GeoALS end ALS.
Take action as an ALS patient or caregiver
Take the Advisor survey
Taking the survey helps fellow patients find the care they need, helps clinics know their strengths & areas for improvement, and helps with a whole bunch of other stuff.
Ask others to take the survey
Ask fellow ALS patients and ALS caregivers to take the survey for any clinic they’ve visited in the past 2 years. They can take it again in 6 months if anything changed significantly at clinic.
The more surveys, the stronger and more helpful the survey data. Respondents have also helped us identify new clinics. The more doctors there are who know about the Advisor, the more quickly patients can get diagnosed and find the care they need.
Donate time
We know how difficult it is to find time when battling ALS, but we also see so many heroes working miracles to find time for volunteering. If you are one of those miracle workers, contact GeoALS and let them know your skills & interests. GeoALS is looking for volunteers to help with a number of tasks, most of which can be done using eye-gaze, such as getting more people to take the Advisor survey, getting the newly diagnosed registered with the CDC, & liaising between GeoALS and its partners and clinic contacts.

Use GeoALS maps, apps, & data
GeoALS doesn’t charge for its maps, data, or apps. We want to create a face for maximum collaboration among researchers. We want to use our spatial analytics & mapping skills to help researchers end ALS. Our experience is in maps for care access and environmental risk factor maps, but we are open to helping with any project that works to improve care access or studies ALS disease causation.
Share your expertise or data with us
The ALS disease state has suffered too many years of researchers working in separate closed circuits, largely cut off from each other. Promising treatments sprout into view but then die on the vine due to lack of funding, which is often due to lack of coordination. GeoALS can’t solve all of the breakdowns that led to 150 years of research and no approved treatments to show for it, but it’s here to do all it can to foster collaboration and data sharing.
Donate or collaborate on grants
A monetary donation is always welcome. In addition, GeoALS collaborates on and supports projects aimed at breaking down barriers to care and projects designed to identify and study suspected ALS disease causative factors. If we can pinpoint the cause(s) of sporadic ALS, we can finally start to treat ALS.
